COVID-19 Vaccination Update

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) have recommended that children and young people aged 12 to 17 who live with an immunosuppressed person should be offered a Covid-19 vaccination. This is to indirectly protect their immunosuppressed household contacts, who are at higher risk of serious disease from COVID-19 and may not generate a full immune response to vaccination. This latest recommendation also includes vaccination for children aged 12 to 15 with severe neurodisabilities, Down’s syndrome, immunosuppression and multiple or severe learning disabilities and patients who will be 18 within 3 months.

The practice is working to ensure we can call this group for vaccination as soon as possible and will be in contact with patients or their parents / carers shortly.

If you feel that the contact details the Practice holds for you may not be correct then please let us know, otherwise there is no need to contact the Practice we will be in touch very soon.

Did you know that the Vaccination Centre at The Meres Leisure Centre is now listed on the National Booking System, so it’s never been easier to book a local appointment for your Covid vaccination.

So, you can now book via the link sent from your GP surgery, or by visiting:

https://www.nhs.uk/…/coro…/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

We are conscious that many of you will be anxious and keen to be vaccinated as quickly as possible but PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE SURGERY asking when you will be offered an appointment.

We are working together with other local practices across the Grantham and Sleaford area to deliver the vaccination campaign, and we are very much limited by vaccine supply from central NHS resources. Please be assured that as soon as we are able to offer vaccinations to your eligible cohort (see below), you will be offered an opportunity to take up an appointment.  In the meantime, please ensure that you follow the latest government guidance found at www.gov.uk/coronavirus

The full guidance regarding priority groups can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/priority-groups-for-coronavirus-covid-19-vaccination-advice-from-the-jcvi-30-december-2020/joint-committee-on-vaccination-and-immunisation-advice-on-priority-groups-for-covid-19-vaccination-30-december-2020

We are unable to confirm at this stage the timings of when each group will be invited as this is dictated by NHS England and the supply of vaccine. However, please be reassured that once we are able to invite your age group you will be notified.  Thank you for your understanding.
